The Gillette World Club Challenge Trophy was on display at Leeds Bradford International Airport yesterday (25th February) for travellers and rugby fans to have their photograph taken ahead of the match between Leeds Rhinos (Super League Champions) and Melbourne Storm (Australian NRL Premiers) on 28th February, which is being celebrated with a festival of rugby, ‘Leeds Loves Rugby’.
Tony Hallwood, LBIA Commercial Director, Ronnie the Rhino, Jet2.com staff (official sponsors of Leeds Rhinos) and members of the Leeds Loves Rugby team were at the airport with the trophy, distributing material and talking about the exciting events taking place over the weekend. These include a ‘Taste of Rugby’ at Saviles Hall, Clarence Dock on 27th and 28th February – two days of inflatable games including Bungee Try, rugby skills workshops and performances from the Leeds Rhinos Cheerleaders and junior cheerleading squad the Rhinestones, one on one coaching plus offers and promotions from Irn Bru and Gillette. Harvey Nichols in the Victoria Quarter will also be getting into the rugby sprit on Saturday and Sunday with an Australian style BBQ.
Tony Hallwood, LBIA Commercial Director, said: “We are delighted that Leeds is hosting such a prestigious international sporting event. As Yorkshire’s gateway airport it’s an excellent opportunity to encourage national and international visitors to the city and showcase our leisure, sporting and business facilities”.
