Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All is delighted to welcome Marketing Leeds as sponsors of the 2010 Leeds 10K.
Now in its 4th year, the Leeds 10K is Yorkshire biggest run and a highlight of the city’s sporting calendar, drawing 11,000 runners to join the city centre run.
Marketing Leeds, the city’s strategic marketing organisation, will work closely with Run For All to attract people to an event with an electric atmosphere which showcases the city and has already raised more than £2 million for charity thanks to the generosity of those living in the region.
The Leeds 10K, which this year, takes place on Sunday July 4th is a fantastic way to see some of the iconic landmarks of Leeds –including City Square, the Corn Exchange, Town Hall, Library, Vicar Lane and the Headrow.
The hugely popular event was set up by the late Jane Tomlinson CBE and her family in 2007 to stand as her fundraising legacy.
Mike Tomlinson said: “We are very grateful to Marketing Leeds for their support which will enable us to make the Leeds 10K an even bigger and better event for everyone taking part and, in turn, will mean we can raise even more for all the charities and good causes supported by those who take part.
“The Leeds 10K is a fantastic event to showcase the city we are proud to call home and to show off the generous spirit of the people of Yorkshire – people who are at the heart of making the Leeds 10K the amazing event it is.”
Thanks to the support of the Marketing Leeds, this year, for the first time the Leeds 10K will televised on terrestrial TV, on Channel 5. The programme will include highlights from the main event on the 4th July as well as spotlighting Jane’s incredible legacy and the people she continues to inspire.
Deborah Green, Chief Executive of Marketing Leeds said: “I am delighted and proud that Marketing Leeds is supporting the fourth Jane Tomlinson 10K ‘Run for All’. This fantastic event is now firmly established as an important part of Leeds’ sporting calendar, and is set to grow even bigger year on year. As well as raising money for a number of charities, the event also helps to raise the profile of our great city to a wider audience.”
The 2009 Leeds 10K raised a fantastic £300,000 for the Jane Tomlinson Appeal and the Leeds 10K partner charities: Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, Macmillan, Martin House Children’s Hospice, the children’s medical charity Sparks and Yorkshire Cancer Centre. In addition, the Jane Tomlinson Appeal was able to offer an additional £100,000 to be shared by the partner charities for nominated projects.
Runner’s World named Jane Tomlinson’s Leeds 10K “Best New Event” in the 2007/2008 awards and earlier this year the event was named in The Sunday Telegraph as among the Top 10 10Ks in the country.
