Screen Yorkshire was set up in late 2002 as the regional screen agency for Yorkshire and Humber. Based in Leeds, Screen Yorkshire is the gateway to the best in film, broadcast and digital media in the Yorkshire & Humber region. It is responsible for inspiring, promoting and supporting a successful and sustainable film, broadcast and digital media industry in the region. Screen Yorkshire is funded by three main partners to deliver a wide range of activities across the industry: Yorkshire Forward, the UK Film Council and Skillset. Screen Yorkshire has an important strategic role in the region, economically and culturally - in terms of attracting inward investment and jobs, building sustainable businesses, developing and keeping skilled and talented people in the region, and working with all communities across the region to increase their access to and understanding of film and the moving image. Screen Yorkshire aims to attract further production to the region so that more skilled and talented people are able to stay or come back to work in the region. Screen Yorkshire believe that to do this it is vital to work in partnership with Marketing Leeds. The city of Leeds is a fantastic selling point to people working in the film, television and digital industries and Screen Yorkshire belive that it is important to get those positive messages out there.
