The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, formed in 1998 through the merger of the United Leeds Hospitals NHS Trust and St James's University NHS Trust, is the largest in the UK. As well as providing hospital services for the people of Leeds, it is a regional centre of excellence for the treatment of diseases such as cancer and a national centre for a range of other illnesses.
